This afternoon, The Rotary Club of Mombasa hosted a delegation of Rotarians from RC Dronten in Holland led by Rotarian Hans Betzema. Rtn Hans made a courtesy call through our Club President to meet up and we were obliged to host them. The team was in the country to visit an Eye Hospital in Sabatia, Kakamega where they donated equipment through a Global Grant. In the meeting that was held at Mombasa Club, members present interacted and got to know one another. We exchanged Club Banners and RC Dronten was gracious enough to give a Kshs. 75,000 token to RC Mombasa towards our Club projects. After a wonderful time of fellowship, the semi-formal meeting ended with a group photo session. Fun Fact: Rtn Hans Betzema was in Mombasa in the late 70s and was in-charge of the road network from Lunga Lunga (Kenya/Tanzania Border), through Likoni, across the island to the North Coast up to Garissa. He had fond memories of his time here and even had one of his children born at Mombasa Hospital.
